Description

City of Woodburn is looking for a bilingual (English/Spanish) Cashier to join its Finance team. Do you like to serve the community? Do you have excellent customer service skills? Can you work with confidential information, handle cash and record transactions, quickly calculate math accurately and make correct change, and tactfully respond to inquiries from the general public? Do you enjoy working in an office as part of a team, answer telephone calls, work on a computer, switch priorities and meet time sensitive deadlines under pressure with routine interruptions, including frequent contact with customers who may be upset at times?

Cashiers take money in the form of cash, check or credit card for amounts due to the City. The work involves extensive customer contact. The incumbent is responsible for recording transactions, reconciling daily receipts, posting payment information in a timely, accurate manner and assisting the public with a variety of service requests and transactions, organizing and filing documents, receiving and reviewing applications, and running reports. A successful candidate must be able to accurately enter data and text into financial software, spreadsheet programs, and/or word processing programs, file accurately in alphabetical or numerical order, have the ability to read and explain a customer's account activity, follow policies, and work in a team environment.

There is an additional 3.5% bilingual pay incentive.

Experience and Training:
High School Diploma or GED, and minimum 12 (twelve) months of full time cashiering experience, preferably in municipal government, and/or involving face-to-face public contact, including the receipt and handling of cash, or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass the pre-employment background check
  • Must pass the Criminal Justice Information Systems/Law Enforcement Data Systems background and fingerprint check (including national and federal)
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
