Job Description

  • Independently provide professional medical support services in the Medical Intensive Care Unit by collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.

  • Orders/performs diagnostic procedures; monitors patient condition, lab values and results of diagnostic procedures, and develop treatment goals.

  • Collaborates with collaborative MD in difficult or complicated cases and as an agreed upon in collaborative agreement.

  • Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff and other health care professionals in area of expertise.

  • Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians.

  • Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.

  • Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary

Salary Range: $43.39 - $70.81 hourly

Grade: PAT - 012

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications for NURSE PRACTITIONER - SPECIALTY CARE

Master of Science in Nursing degree.

Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

Must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri Board of Nursing.

For Emergency Medicine appointments: Two (2) years of experience as a nurse practitioner in an acute care area in an emergency medicine setting.


Qualifications for PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE

Physicians Assistant (PA) licensure by the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.

For Emergency Medicine positions: Two (2) years of experience as a physician assistant in an acute care area or completion of post-graduate PA residency/fellowship in an emergency medicine setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Possess a specialty certificate by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB), the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Certification Nursing Board (PCNB), or the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
