Position Summary:
Antioch College has an immediate opening for an instructor of Spanish beginning the fall 2022 term.
We seek qualified applicants for one of two possibilities (please specify your preference and availability in a cover letter):

  • A short-term adjunct position to teach two courses (one novice, one intermediate) for the fall quarter of 2022 (29 Aug – 8 Nov), with potential for renewal over the next two quarters and potential to add an independent study-like course with additional compensation.
  • A one-year, term-limited contract appointment for the 22-23 academic year to teach two courses per quarter (two novice, two intermediate, and two advanced), oversee one or two low-enrollment independent study-like courses, serve as language advisor for students pursuing Spanish language proficiency or capstone projects, and service to the language program. This form of the position includes benefits.

Successful applicants will have native or near-native command of Spanish and will have an MA or terminal degree in Spanish language, literature, linguistics, language pedagogy, or a related field as well as college teaching experience and commitment to quality undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment. The preferred candidate will have experience in a proficiency-based program and familiarity with ACTFL standards and guidelines. Antioch College’s Spanish courses enable advanced students to work in Hispanophone countries on an immersion co-op and conduct independent research projects abroad. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to Antioch’s commitment to diversity and its evolving multilingual culture.
This position is open until filled.
