Amber Charter Schools provides our students with an academically rigorous and well-rounded education, along with strong character development, enabling them to prosper in their future endeavors.
By 2025, the ACS network will serve over 2000 students across three NYC neighborhoods.
- Amber Charter School East Harlem was founded in 2000 as the first Latino-led charter school in New York State. It currently serves 500 K-5 students.
- Amber Charter School Kingsbridge opened in 2016 and serves 620 K-7 students, and will grow to serve 840 K-8.
- Amber Charter School Inwood opened in 2021 serving K-2 students. It will grow to serve 923 K-8 students.

Position Summary*
The Amber Charter School Teacher understands and promotes the school's mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Classroom Teacher is responsible for providing a classroom/instructional program that supports the individual needs of all children in accordance with the school's mission and values established by the school.
Essential Responsibilities
Instructional Planning & Deliver
- Assumes personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students
- Implements a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with Administration
- Document all syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, rubrics and other instructional materials and methods
- Use consistent school-wide practices and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom
- Implements various methods to promote a student-led and student-centered classroom
- Teach students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusion setting and implement IEPs as necessary
Student Assessment
- Measures student achievement and progress towards learning objectives using the school's formative and summative assessment tools
- Evaluates academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance on a wide variety of metrics
- Provides ongoing and timely feedback to students and families on their progress towards meeting expectations and achieving goals
- Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress in order to improve instruction and personal practice
Learning Environment
- Creates, and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe, to be creative, and to develop to their full potential
- Establish, model, practice and reinforce age-appropriate rules and discipline using school approved procedures; create and consistently use individual behavioral management plans as needed
- Promotes a positive, family-like environment in your classroom
Student Support & School Culture
- Communicates effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and administrators
- Organizes and supervise approved field trips to enhance classroom learning.
- Works closely with all members of school community, model citizenship, collaboration and support of one another
- Other tasks as assigned by the Administration
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 year as an effective, impactful classroom teacher
- Familiarity with high-quality curriculum programs.
- Able to speak, read, write and understand the Spanish language
- Strong command of all Microsoft Office and Google drive programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Completion and pass pre-employment Fingerprinting and Reference check process
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Masters degree in field of education
- Minimum of 2 years experience as an effective, impactful classroom teacher
- Middle School: NYS Spanish Middle Childhood (Grades 5-9) or Generalist in Middle School Childhood Education (Grades 5-9) with Spanish Extension (Grades 5-9) teaching certification required.
- A high degree of comfort and confidence planning and implementing rigorous, engaging and effective instruction.
- Commitment to create and maintain a safe and responsive learning environment.
- Capacity to develop strong relationships based on trust, respect, effective communication, and common goals.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple obligations and initiatives, strong attention to detail and excellent time management.

Salary range:
- The range for this role is $61k - 102k annually.
Pay is one component of Amber's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 403(b) plan and company contribution, short-term and long-term disability coverage Commuter & Transit, Life Insurance and Flexible Spending/Health Reimbursement
