Spanish Teacher - Part-Time In-Person - Evenings and/or Weekends

New England Language School (NELS) is seeking a passionate, professional, and experienced part-time SPANISH language teacher for 9 hours or more hours per week starting in June. We also need a substitute teacher for some dates in April and May.

The classes meet IN-PERSON on weekday evenings and/or weekend days in Quincy, MA. NELS is conveniently located across the street from the Quincy Center MBTA train station on the Red Line.

New England Language School is a local institution with a global reach through language education for adults and teenagers. Our mission is to provide the foreign language skills and cultural knowledge students need to communicate effectively and attain their personal, professional, or academic goals.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to applied linguistics, education, or a related field
• Have at least 1 year of Spanish language teaching experience
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
• Be familiar with Hispanic culture.
• Be able to attend an in-person interview and teach in person in Quincy, MA
• Be computer literate and competent in using the internet, Microsoft office, and Zoom as some students may choose to attend class online.
• Selected candidates will be asked to teach a demonstration lesson.

Job description

• Teach grammar, speaking skills, listening comprehension, writing skills, reading comprehension, pronunciation, and vocabulary to beginner to advanced level students using an assigned textbook
• Develop lesson plans and learning objectives
• Give homework and feedback
• Maintain up-to-date records (i.e. attendance, timesheets, progress notes, etc.)
• Participate in staff meetings

Compensation
$23-25 per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications
