Interpreter- Fluent in English and Spanish

We have 11 clinics located throughout the River Region, 2 mobile clinics, and 4 school-based clinics in partnership with Montgomery Public Schools.

HSI is looking for an Interpreter to join our team. Our Interpreters provide interpreting/ translation services to our non-English speaking patients. Interpreters serve as a liaison between staff and patients (and their families/caregivers) and as a resource to medical staff promote a better understanding the patient's needs.

Job duties:

• Conveys accurate and unbiased translation of information to patients and/or their caregiver(s) who need assistance. This translation may include direct conversations or assistance with written documents.
• Facilitates communication between the patient and the medical staff.
• Keeps all information strictly confidential, based on current HIPAA regulations.
• Familiarizes new non-English speaking patients with HSI facilities and its available services.
• Assist as needed with the registration and the processing of patients.
• Work collaboratively with the unit clerk in scheduling these patients' appointments.
• Uses the language that is most readily understood by the person being served.

Education and Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both in verbal and written communications.
• Previous experience in medical office setting ideal.
