The Department of Modern Languages and Classics at the University of Alabama invites applications for a non-tenure track renewable contract (NTRC) faculty position starting August 16, 2023. The successful applicant will serve as Spanish Language Program Director of a vibrant and established coordinated program of elementary and intermediate language courses. Duties include developing curriculum, supervising graduate teaching assistants and instructors, and teaching both undergraduate Spanish classes and graduate classes on foreign language teaching methods and Second Language Acquisition. Service expectations will be commensurate with rank.
Requirements include a PhD or EdD (or the equivalent) with a focus in Spanish linguistics or Second Language Acquisition with an emphasis on Spanish in hand by August 16, 2023. Preference will be given to applicants who also demonstrate experience in language coordination and use of instructional technology to support a basic-level hybrid language program. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and demonstrated excellence in teaching required. Review of applications will begin immediately.
