Our curriculum is based on Experiential Learning so that the kids learn through interactive activities that are engaging and educational. All our programs follow a Spanish Immersion format.

We are looking for a bilingual teacher with Art/STEAM experience to work with us at our Mission location. To be considered for this unique and fun, progressive educational position:

  • You must have a passion for children and teaching, be a positive team member, and love to facilitate experiential learning activities with school-aged children.
  • You are bilingual, fluent in Spanish and English, preferably a native Spanish speaker with roots in a Spanish-speaking country.
  • You have completed at least 12 ECE units, or a BS/BA degree, and have at least 2 years of experience working with children in a STEAM program through child care, school, after school environment, or summer camp.
  • You are creative, are an art teacher with STEAM /Makers' space experience
  • You have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, an up-beat personality, very strong multi-tasking skills, and enjoy working collaboratively.
  • You have strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • You can improvise and problem-solve in a pinch.
  • You are 18+ years old, with a legal employment status that enables you to work in the U.S., and are available to start working in October 2023.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Collaborate with the team in developing curriculum
- Supervising children, providing emotional support and ensuring their safety
- Developing, organizing and implementing arts & crafts and STEAM projects, in a Maker's Space-like classroom
- Collaborate with the team in creating/building project models/prototypes as needed
- Organizing other recreational activities
- Onsite supervision of day-to-day aspects of the program
- Distribute snacks
- Supervise dismissal times and maintain positive rapport with parents and guardians
- Communicate with team members and parents about student's behavior
- Respond in a timely fashion to all inquiries regarding the program
- Maintain clean and orderly classroom environments
- Maintain accurate attendance and pick-up records
- Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 years of professional experience in school or children’s programs, including recreational ones
- At least 12 completed ECE units or a BS/BA degree. Education degree (teaching credentials, certificate for elementary school teaching) and/or arts education a plus
- Open-mindedness, organizational skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for improvisation
- Competency with basic word processing and internet functions; as well as all applications used in the regular functioning of the after school program
- Ability to ascertain which people may need immediate assistance and to act accordingly
- Native Spanish and Advanced English language skills
- Preferably experienced/familiar with Latin American/Hispanic cultures
- Valid US work permit required
- LiveScan Fingerprinting, TB Test, Clear Criminal Background Check
