JOB DESCRIPTION:
Old Trail School in Bath, Ohio is seeking full-time Spanish teachers for the 2023-24 school year and
beyond. The successful candidate will work primarily with students in our Middle/Intermediate School.
Responsibilities will include teaching students in certain grades of elementary (K-8) Spanish and sitting
on various faculty committees. The ideal candidate will maintain a positive and professional
atmosphere in the classroom, demonstrating an ability to inspire and engage students. The candidate
will exhibit strong leadership skills, creativity and flexibility and be able to promote the individual
success of each student, regardless of skill or level. It is the expectation that the candidate will create
and maintain current and detailed lesson plans, provide differentiated instruction in the classroom,
collaborate with peers, and be a role model for the School’s core values: Respect, Responsibility,
Goodness, and Service.
This position will assist the World Language department chair in planning and leading a program abroad
to a Spanish speaking country. Other duties may include coaching a sport, serving as an advisor,
chaperoning students on field trips, and proctoring study halls/supervising break and recess duties.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Spanish, Education or an associated
and appropriate field. Applicants should have 2-4 years of teaching experience, either in the classroom
or in non-traditional educational settings (camps, outdoor centers, etc.) Old Trail’s World Language
Department uses a comprehensible-input method of instruction. A candidate should be completely
fluent in Spanish, whether a native speaker of Spanish or not. Most importantly, applicants should have
a love of working with children, in a collaborative, upbeat, and positive environment.
