The West Liberty Community School District has an anticipated opening for a .5 FTE High School or Middle School Spanish teacher for the 2023/2024 School Year
QUALIFICATIONS:
9-12 Iowa teaching license endorsed in 5-12 or 7-12 Spanish required
Must believe that all students can learn
Must possess a collaborative nature
Must understand the importance of culture in a high school and its effect on academics
Must be an innovative, passionate, and energetic individual
Successful prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred but not required
Successful experience working with diverse learners including Special Education and ESL
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students
Develops lessons in Spanish for native Spanish speakers, dual language learners, and second language learners
Aligns lessons with ACTFL standards, ELP standards, and Iowa Core
Creates a climate that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
Employs methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
Develop and maintain an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
Works collaboratively with content area/grade level teams
Half-time position, beginning with the 2023 - 2024 school year
