GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Housing Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the team of Housing Specialists and ensuring the handling of clients’ eligibility and determining their housing and service needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Oversees Housing Specialists for the entire facility
  • Responsible for ensuring that the responsibilities of Housing Specialists are being fulfilled
  • Must provide active and consistent feedback to Housing Specialists regarding performance and progress
  • Helps assist with performance evaluations
  • Must provide job coaching to Housing Specialists as necessary.
  • Secures permanent housing for clients from a wide range of sources, including government agencies, private landlords and brokers
  • Assists clients with the search for available properties and negotiate terms on behalf of clients
  • Ensures clients understanding of their rights and responsibilities as tenants
  • Provides clients with information and refer them to additional support programs or services.
  • Prepares and maintains daily logs, records, and reports
  • Counsels and assists clients in completing all necessary paperwork, including lease signings.
  • Partner with Case Managers to prepare clients for landlord/broker interviews
  • Assists and counsel clients in regards to keeping their appointments
  • Ensures that new apartments are client-ready (e.g. utilities turned on, furniture delivered)
  • Maintains accurate records on client compliance via appointments and interviews
  • Must meet or surpass target goals set for permanent housing placements and related indicators.
  • Workshops with clients to teach them how to do housing applications
  • Workshops on housing interviews
  • Meet with the brokers that are working with the housing specialist
  • Be aware and work on linkages
  • Coordinate a van service for apartment viewings and lease signing
  • In the event of an emergency, Essential Employees are required to report to work as scheduled
  • Duties and responsibilities subject to change based upon assessment of company needs

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Mental Health, Nursing, Health and Human Services or Education Services required
  • Must have a minimum two years’ experience working within the Social Services Field
  • Must have interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • Experience working with the Homeless Population
  • Experience with the CARES system

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 per year
