Bilingual Early Childhood Teacher's Assistant

Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Proficient in Spanish. Prefer Early Childhood Experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES

The ECDT works directly under the supervision of the Classroom Teacher of his/her treatment room.

  • Assists with supervision of patients and participates in the implementation of the Individualized Educational Treatment Plan (IETP) to ensure the maximum treatment of the patients served.
  • Maintains visual supervision of the patients at all times.
  • Ensures a positive emotional climate for the patients by showing respect to children and adults through a willingness to help others, by maintaining harmonious interpersonal relations, and through use of appropriate and approved discipline techniques under the guidance of the Classroom Teacher.
  • Assists the Classroom Teacher in maintaining an environment conducive to preventative discipline.
  • Speaks in a well modulated, pleasant, and loving voice to patients and personnel.
  • Represents the program to parents, visitors, and the public in a positive way.
  • Attends and actively participates in job-related center functions.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, healthy, and sanitary learning environment for patients by working under the supervision of the Classroom Teacher to ensure that patients are kept clean, clothing is changed when necessary, and toys and other materials are disinfected as needed.
  • During periods of physical activity, ensures that active involvement is maintained with patients to promote gross and fine motor skills.
  • Immediately reports any information regarding health and safety concerns to the Early Childhood Supervisor or Nurse.
  • Completes relevant and approved in-service trainings per fiscal year as required by CCL standards.
  • Assists the Classroom Teacher with documentation.
  • May be asked to perform some housekeeping/janitorial functions.
  • Assists on van routes as needed.
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
