Spanish Teacher Job Summary
Michigan Math and Science Academy - Dequindre is a small, non-profit, K-12 public charter school in Warren, MI. We are professional, supportive, and data-driven and our goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and academically challenging learning environment that inspires all students to reach their maximum potential.
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Spanish Teacher to join our faculty. Our ideal candidate can speak and write fluently in Spanish and can get students excited about learning the language in the classroom. You will develop a well-rounded curriculum that enables students to read and write in Spanish, as well as speak both formally and conversationally. Cultural studies should be integrated throughout the curriculum to give students perspective on the history and development of the language. You must have a valid teaching license to apply for this role.
Spanish Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach students the Spanish language, including grammar and vocabulary
- Design curriculum lesson plans
- Assign coursework and administer tests
- Grade assignments
- Incorporate classroom learning activities
- Follow all school policies
Spanish Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or Spanish culture
- Teaching license
- Fluency in the Spanish language
- Communication skills
- Proficiency in basic computer programs
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of English grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, spelling, literature and other content areas taught.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile
Previous experience (1+ year) in teaching or other educational fields preferred
Michigan Standard or Professional Teaching License
Strong classroom management skills
Ability to build rapport with students
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
