Position Description

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach courses in Workforce Continuing Education Services for Plumbing classes. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time. However, upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted directly by the department as needed. Part-time (adjunct) faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner

  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour

Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

Facilitates new student orientation as needed

Grades and returns student work in a timely manner

Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course.

Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

Remains up to date on current teaching methods and technology in the classroom.

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus; translates materials as needed

Attends professional development opportunities when possible

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up to date and appropriate
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning

Ability to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English, including
reading, writing, and speaking.

Be innovative, creative, motivated

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others

Ability to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently

Ability to interact, teach and communicate with a diverse population of students

Excellent organizational skills

Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as Moodle

Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Demonstrates resourcefulness,

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English, including

reading, writing, and speaking.

initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Requirements:

High School Diploma

Two years of work experience as a Plumber and/or teaching experience

Preferences:

Journeyman Plumber Certification

NC Plumbing License

National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Craft Intructor Certification in Plumbing
