Founded in 1887, Alverno College is a four-year, Catholic liberal arts college for

The College is seeking applicants for a part-time adjunct instructor located in Milwaukee, WI.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This is a part-time adjunct instructor position in the World Languages department/Humanities
division of the college.

The instructor will teach, assess, and develop curriculum in World Languages for undergraduate
courses including, but not limited to, beginning, intermediate, and advanced Spanish grammar,
Spanish conversation and composition, and seminars in advanced topics of Spanish or Latin
American culture, literature, and civilization in a variety of modalities (i.e., face-to-face, hybrid,
and/or online). Additionally, the instructor will participate in orientation and professional
development as required by the department and/or college.

For the fall 2023 semester, the instructor would teach SLC 103 – Beginning Spanish I (Mondays and
Wednesdays) and SLC 203 – Intermediate Spanish I (Tuesdays and Thursdays) in an online
synchronous format from 5:10 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Qualifications and Education
Primary areas of expertise should be in Spanish or Latin American culture, language, literature,
linguistics, pedagogy, second language acquisition, or a related field. Experience in other
languages, faculty-led travel abroad, and/or translation and interpretation is desirable for the position
but not required. Experience with learning management software (LMS) and computer-based
instructional tools is also desirable, as is familiarity with Wisconsin DPI licensure requirements.

Successful candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence at the college level and

In addition, they must possess the ability to relate well to students, a willingness to work in a highly
collaborative environment, and agree to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.

Master’s degree is required. Ph.D. or near completion is preferred.
