Assistant Professor (Term) of Spanish

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages at the University of Louisville invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Term) of Spanish to begin August 1, 2023.� Preferred candidates will hold a PhD in Applied Linguistics, with a focus on Heritage Language Pedagogy and/or Second Language Instruction.� Primary duties involve teaching Heritage Language courses, basic and intermediate Spanish language courses and Spanish for Business. Candidates who have a passion for language-learning as an integral part of community-building and social justice are highly desired.� This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewals and is subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate will have�native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English, effective interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and�demonstrated�experience and�excellence in language teaching�in�traditional, online and hybrid teaching environments,�including�the�development�of instructional materials that are communicatively oriented and reflect expertise in proficiency-based language instruction, ACTFL World Readiness Standards, and instructional technologies. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to understanding issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as best practices for ensuring that all students in a diverse community, including members of traditionally underrepresented groups, are supported.�
