Part-time Spanish Teacher

Position Title: Lower School Spanish Teacher (PT) Part time (2 days per week)

Position Summary: Far Brook School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Lower School Spanish Teacher for the 2023 - 2024 school year to teach Nursery - Grade 3. A strong candidate will embrace Far Brook's unique progressive, multidisciplinary, and collaborative approach to learning. Essential Responsibilities:

● Understand and support the Far Brook School Statement of Purpose and Commitment to

Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice

● Plan lessons and curriculum content for Spanish for pre-K to Gr 3 language classes which meet 2x a week each semester. Lower School students experience a semester of Spanish and French

● Provide a warm welcoming presence to support young learners and teach through song, storytelling, and games

● Collaborate with the learning specialist and school counselor to thoughtfully and purposefully teach all learners

● Working closely with the Lower School French teacher and Upper School World Language faculty to develop a thoughtful scope and sequence for the World Languages program at Far Brook

● Communicate with families about students’ learning through updates, parent-teacher conferences, and student progress reports

● Support the community by performing other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

● Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in a related field, a Master’s Degree preferred

● Experience and/or interest in learning Comprehensible Input-based teaching principles

● Experience and/or interest in using the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) method of world language instruction

● Experience teaching elementary/early childhood students

● Interest in the development and implementation of social justice, diversity, and inclusivity into the curriculum

Reporting Relationship:

● Reports to the Director of Lower School

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $250.00 - $275.00 per day

Expected hours: 20 per week
